This project was born out of the desire to help sick or grieving children struggling to deal with the death of a loved one - or their own illness. We created a kit that came complete with a custom-designed box that held “Bertie Bear” and his house. Bertie had a backpack with a journal for the kids to write their feelings and thoughts in, as well as a puzzle, magnet board, coloring book and finger labyrinth. The kits were delivered to hospitals across the nation and handed out by hospital chaplains. It was very well-received by the hospitals – and children.
